Rotary District 2483

Rotary International, a global organisation with more than a century of history, is dedicated to humanitarian service and to building peace and understanding in the world. Within that global network, Rotary District 2483 holds a particular place, covering the territories of Serbia and Montenegro.

History and territory

Through more than three decades of modern activity in this region, the district brings together clubs that carry out projects of local and international significance. Our club has been part of that network since 2008.

Mission and core values

The district's mission is to support clubs in delivering sustainable projects, to nurture friendship among members and to promote high ethical standards in business and the professions.

Avenues of service and projects

District clubs work together across all four avenues of Rotary, with particular emphasis on education, health care and help for the most vulnerable. Joint projects open the way to Global Grants from The Rotary Foundation.

Leadership

The district is led by a governor, elected for a one-year term, supported by assistant governors and committee chairs. Several members of our club have held district-level positions.

The district today

District 2483 comprises 71 clubs — 64 in Serbia and 7 in Montenegro. It is led by a governor, elected for a single Rotary year (1 July to 30 June), who makes an official visit to every club during the term. Governor Veliša Stamatović made his official visit to our club in December 2025.

The governor works with a district team — assistant governors, a secretary, a treasurer and chairs for particular areas. The district issues weekly and monthly governor letters, organises the district conference, and runs PETS, the seminar preparing club presidents and secretaries for the year ahead.

Young people in the district

Alongside Rotary clubs, the district includes Rotaract clubs (ages 18–30), Interact clubs (secondary-school students) and Rotex, the network of former youth-exchange participants. In Pančevo, alongside our club, there is also the Rotaract club „Mihajlo Pupin“.
